Flatten The Mountain Pickaxes

The first thing you hold in Flatten The Mountain is a starter pickaxe. Official media later shows a heavier, flaming mechanical pick chewing the same voxel tower. That upgrade path is real. A thirteen-row rarity table copied from Mine a Mountain is not. Flatten The Mountain is an incremental. Your click is the tutorial. Your idle workers are the product. If you treat the pickaxe as the whole game you will stand on the sand swinging at brown filler while a co-op lobby parks lasers on gold. Read this page so the tool stays a tool.

What we can prove about pickaxes

From the Roblox description, the official screenshots, and the no-commentary full session on getting started:

• You spawn with a basic pick and can mine colored blocks for cash immediately. No quest gate.
• The shop and Skill Tree both touch swing speed and mining power. One is a menu of nodes. The other is a row of tools and workers.
• Promotional first-person shots show a gold-and-flame pick on a desert terrace. That is an upgraded tool, not a different game mode.
• Cash popups (+$5, +$10 in gallery frames) fire on hits, not on a separate “swing stamina” bar we can document.

We do not publish a fake list of Rusty / Iron / Celestial names. Those belong to a different Roblox mountain. If DomBlox later names every pick, updates and this page will quote the shop labels. Until then, think in jobs: starter, faster, cosmetic.

Starter pick: the first ten minutes

Use the default tool to fund the tree, not to flatten the silhouette. Mine the lowest colored clusters you can reach. Brown volume is for learning the camera. Gold, blue, and red clusters in the overview art are the payday. Keep swinging until mining-speed and income nodes are not theoretical. If the starter pick feels slow, that is the point. The first purchase should still be a Skill Tree speed node, not a shop flex pick with a trail. A faster node makes every future pick better. A cosmetic pick with no extra voxels per hit is a screenshot.

Shop upgrades versus Skill Tree speed

Two menus can make you mine faster. They are not equal.

A second pickaxe in your backpack does not mine while you look at the eagle. A drone does. That is why the drones and turrets list outranks a tool collection. Buy the flaming pick when it is a visible power bump and you already own a worker. Do not buy it because a thumbnail made it look like the win condition.

How a better pick changes the mountain

A stronger swing clears a terrace faster, which matters for two reasons. First, you expose buried chests sooner if you cut interiors instead of sanding the skin. Second, you spend less time on the outer lip where the eagle owns the sky. The pick is not anti-eagle armor. Movement is. But a slow pick keeps you planted on one voxel, and planted miners get grabbed.

Once a laser turret exists, your pickaxe is a gap-filler. Turrets delete cubes in a line. You should be cutting notches, grabbing chests, and relocating drones, not racing the turret voxel-for-voxel. If you are still manually flattening a whole face after you own two workers, you are playing the tutorial on purpose. The flatten method assumes the pick is a scalpel, not a bulldozer.

Cosmetic picks, trails, and other cash sinks

Incrementals sell identity. A glowing pick on a sunset terrace photographs well. It does not un-block the sun. Treat any shop row that does not mention speed, damage, or a new worker slot as flex. Flex is allowed after:

1. Speed and income nodes are online.
2. At least one drone is parked on color, not air.
3. You have a notch the eagle does not own.
4. You have checked codes once (still empty as of September 2026).

If you already bought a trail, do not reset the account. Stop. Put the next lump of cash into the skill planner checklist. The mountain does not refund taste.

Co-op and the shared face

On a 25-player server your pickaxe is one laser among many. Do not stand in someone else’s swing lane. Do not “steal” a gold cluster by crowding a drone nest — the voxels die either way, and the lobby just loses a worker to traffic. Call a side. Mine the interior your group is already opening. What this is not

This is not a kilogram-and-bomb loadout from Mine a Mountain. You do not haul crystals down a plot. You do not buy warmth to climb a snow peak. Flatten The Mountain’s pick exists to turn a blocking tower into a tan. If a video titled “strongest pickaxe” shows a shopkeeper NPC and a Celestial Apex, you are watching the wrong place ID. Confirm official links before you copy a purchase order.

Session checklist for the tool

1. Spawn with the starter. Mine color, not ego.
2. Open the Skill Tree in a notch. Buy speed, then income.
3. Park a drone. See getting started.
4. Buy a shop pick only if the tooltip is a power bump.
5. Cut inward. Hunt chests. Relocate the drone.
6. Let turrets eat the remaining skin.
7. Cosmetic pick after the sun is visible from spawn.

If a September patch names every tool, this checklist still holds: workers beat cosmetics, speed beats a second model, and the eagle does not care how expensive your handle looks. Play the live build. Spend like the sun is the loot table.
