Flatten The Mountain Skill Tree Tier List

The Skill Tree is the only long-term identity Flatten The Mountain gives you. Pickaxes get replaced. Drones get parked. The tree stays. DomBlox listed it in the official description next to chests and the eagle, which is a hint: if you ignore the tree, you will still be clicking brown filler while someone else’s drones own the skyline.

This page ranks categories of nodes, not invented names. The live UI may label them differently. If a node says it increases mining speed, income, drone count, turret power, movement, or chest luck, slot it into the rank below. If it says trail, emote, or umbrella, it is cosmetics. Cosmetics do not flatten.

S — mining speed and income

Speed is the multiplier on you, on drones, and on every future click. Income is the multiplier on +$5 and +$10 popups. Together they shrink the time to the next drone. Take every cheap rank in these two families before you touch a vanity branch. The beginner guide assumes you did this.

If the tree gates speed behind a tiny filler node, buy the filler. Do not skip a 2% speed because it looks boring. Boring is S-tier.

A — drone slots, drone efficiency, turret unlocks

A second drone is a second paycheck. Turret unlocks belong here once one drone exists, not before. Efficiency that makes drones mine while you fight the eagle is worth more than a turret that looks good in a clip. Pair this rank with the drones and turrets list.

B — movement, grab recovery, chest luck

Movement matters because the eagle circles a white ring around a very tall object. A small walk-speed node prevents more deaths than a fourth turret. Chest luck belongs in B until you can actually find chests; luck on a player who never cuts into the interior is a wasted point. After you run buried chests once, promote chest luck in your own head.

C — cosmetics, trails, flex pickaxes with no stats

The flame pickaxe in the hero shot is a C-tier purchase if it does not list speed or damage. Screenshots are not DPS. Buy it after the sun is a disc again, not while it is a rumor behind stone.

Respec, prestige, and “one more node”

At wiki launch there was no public patch note describing a prestige reset. Do not play as if a wipe is coming tomorrow. Spend as if this tree is permanent. If DomBlox later adds a flatten-to-prestige, we will mark it on updates and this list will change. Until then, do not hoard cash for a rumor.

If the UI offers a respec, use it only after you accidentally dumped into C-tier. Respeccing every five minutes is how you never own a drone.

Print that as the skill planner and keep it next to the shop. If a node is on sale from a future code, still buy speed first.

How this list disagrees with chat

Lobby chat will tell you to max turrets because the lasers look like a raid. Lasers without income are a light show on a mountain that still blocks noon. Chat will also tell you to ignore the tree and “just click.” Clicking without speed nodes is how you become the screenshot of a tiny pickaxe in front of a skyscraper.

Use how to flatten to apply these ranks to real layers, and co-op so other people’s drones cover while you open the tree UI. Opening the tree in first-person with the eagle on-screen is how you donate a life to the bird.
