Flatten The Mountain Find Buried Chests

DomBlox put buried chests in the official feature list next to the Skill Tree and the eagle. That means they are not a rumor and not a seasonal maybe. They are part of the flatten loop. This guide is how to hunt them without turning the mountain into Swiss cheese and without spending the loot on a trail.

Where chests are not

They are not on the desert floor. They are not behind the spawn umbrella. They are not in the sky. Buried means inside the tower. If you only laser the outer skin, you will flatten slowly and you will starve the chest loop. Interior volume is both progress and loot.

How to cut so chests can appear

Use the layer method from how to flatten. On each terrace, take one extra bite inward. You are looking for a voxel that does not match the grid: a hole, a gleam, a block that breaks into a container instead of filler. Promotional shots show mixed colors — blue, red, gold, brown — so a chest may sit behind a payday cluster. Clear the cluster, then scan the new wall before you walk away.

Drones help if they are pointed at interiors. A drone that only shaves the sunny side will never “find” anything. Reposition using the drones and turrets parking rules. Turrets can expose a chest by deleting the rock in front of it; they can also delete the chest if you are sloppy. When you see a suspicious shape, switch to the pickaxe and break it yourself.

Skill Tree luck

Chest luck nodes are B-tier on the Skill Tree list until you are actually cutting interiors. Once you are, they promote. Do not max luck on a player who still mines only the beach-facing wall. Pair luck with the skill planner so it does not eat your drone budget.

The eagle problem

Chest sparkle is how people forget the eagle. Glance at the white ring, then break the chest. A grabbed player drops the rhythm and sometimes the lobby’s patience. In co-op, call “chest east” so six people do not mine the same box and three others do not stand on the rim.

How to spend chest cash

Treat a chest like a code that actually exists. The spend order is the same as spawn: mining speed, drone, income, turret. If the chest drops an item instead of cash, equip it only if it lists a stat. A hat is not a flatten tool.

If you open a chest and nothing visible happens, rejoin once. Incrementals sometimes grant on data reload. Then stop reopening the same hole.

Hunt cadence

You do not need to chest-radar every block. A practical cadence:

1. Clear a ring.
2. Cut one interior corridor.
3. Scan.
4. Park drones.
5. Repeat one level down.

That cadence is slow enough to be safe and fast enough to matter. Players who ignore chests still flatten. Players who only hunt chests never flatten. You want both, which is why this page sits next to the flatten guide instead of replacing it.

If you cannot find any

Confirm you are in Flatten The Mountain by DomBlox, not a crystal-mining clone. Confirm you have left the outer skin. Confirm a patch did not move chests to an event. Then keep cutting. RNG is real even when luck nodes exist. A dry streak is not proof the feature is fake. Official copy listed it on day one.
